How to use the geometry solver
Geometry problems depend on the shape and the measurements given. Include a diagram or describe the figure, label the known lengths and angles, and specify the quantity you need.
A useful method
- Identify the shape and all known measurements.
- Choose a formula that connects the known values to the unknown.
- Substitute values, calculate, and write the correct units.
Worked example
Find the area of a circle with radius 5 cm
- Use the circle area formula A = πr².
- Substitute r = 5 cm: A = π(5)².
- Square 5 to get 25.
Answer: A = 25π cm², about 78.54 cm².
Check your work
Area uses square units and volume uses cubic units. Check whether a problem gives a radius or a diameter before substituting.
Enter your own problem in the solver above and ask about any step you want explained.
