How to use the math checker
Paste your question together with your proposed answer or working. Ask the solver to check each step and explain where a result changes, rather than asking only whether the final number is correct.
A useful method
- Include the original problem and your attempted solution.
- Verify each transformation or substitute the proposed answer back into the original question.
- Correct the first incorrect step and repeat the check.
Worked example
Check whether x = 4 solves 2x + 3 = 11
- Substitute x = 4 into the left side.
- Calculate 2(4) + 3 = 8 + 3 = 11.
- The left side equals the right side.
Answer: Yes, x = 4 is a solution.
Check your work
A correct final answer does not prove every intermediate step is valid. Review the reasoning as well as the result.
Enter your own problem in the solver above and ask about any step you want explained.
